The Digital Design Professional (DDP) certification is aimed at professionals from areas such as Requirements Engineering, business analysis, CX & UX, project management, and product management who are involved in designing and optimizing digital products, systems, and services.

Contents

The syllabus reflects the core ideas of the Digital Design Manifesto: Digital Design is the design of digital solutions through a holistic view of the technical possibilities of digital material, the economic aspects, and the current or future needs of people. The syllabus is designed for a two-day training course and includes the following chapters:

  1. Motivation for Digital Design

    2. Find out why a separate job description is needed for Digital Design. Understand the need to design digital solutions holistically, uniting business, people, and technology.

  2. The three areas of expertise in Digital Design

    3. Get to know the three areas of expertise: design competence, material competence, and crosscutting competencies. These areas will help you to apply digital technologies and methods successfully.

  3. Basic principles of designing digital solutions with digital material/s

    4. Understand digital material/s as a shapable element. Learn how form, function, and quality are integrated at different levels to develop innovative digital solutions.

  4. Basic principles of the building process

    5. Gain insights into the essential steps of the building process, from scoping and concept work to the realization of digital solutions.

  5. Structuring the building process from the view of Digital Design

    6. Learn how to structure the building process by linking the business, people, and technology perspectives. Understand how the abstraction levels solution, system, and element interact.

  6. Overview of basic digital technologies

    7. Get an introduction to key technologies that are critical to Digital Design. Learn how technologies are used at the perceivable and underlying level.

  7. Basic principles of design work

    8. Learn which principles and methods are relevant for performing design work in the context of digital solutions. Learn how to combine creative and technical aspects.

  8. Design work at the solution level

    9. Develop skills to design digital solutions at the top abstraction level. Understand the strategic importance of the solution level for the success of a project.

  9. Design work at the system level

    10. Delve deeper into the technical and structural aspects of design work. Understand how individual systems are designed and linked together within a solution.

  10. Design work at the element level

    11. Learn how the finer details of a digital solution, such as modules or components, are designed and integrated into the larger system.

  11. Holistic design work in the building process

    12. Learn how to combine the various design aspects into a coherent whole. Learn how to bring all levels of design together harmoniously.

  12. Frameworks for the building process from the view of Digital Design

    13. Get an overview of important frameworks that can support you in planning and executing the building process.

  13. The social dimension of the building process

    14. Understand how the social dimension influences the building process. Learn how to manage the expectations and needs of stakeholders and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
